How beginner friendly our sign up process is?
The goal of the project was to create a beginner friendly sign up process for pseudo Cryptex cryptocurrency exchange website
Research
I created empathy maps and usability studies to find user experience patterns for cryptocurrency exchange platforms. The primary group of user was identified to be crypto traders and investors that are new to cryptocurrency exchange platform
While conducting the research, it was revealed that user group had high drop rates because of unconventional signup process, fear of hack attacks, and lack of technical knowledge on cryptocurrency

Competitive Audit
I conducted a competitive audit to identify key competitors of the website, which includes Coinbase, a crypto trading website with educational link to learn about crypto, crypto.com , which is a worldwide company, cash app, which is sort of bank app that also deals with bitcoin, and Binance, a worldwide famous cryptocurrency exchange platform
Pain points indentified
Most cryptocurrency sites have unorthodox sign up process (private public key method)
Most sites do not offer multiple sign up options
Most website doesnt offer two-factor authentication making the profiles vulnerable
I created a person of Thomas Muller, a fictional character that would be using the sign up process created in the project. Thomas Muller is a a crypto exchanger who needs beginner friendly signup process because investors have high dropout rates because of unorthodox sign up process

Design Process
I created a sitemap representing the structure of the website.
Paper Wireframes
The ultimate goal of creating paper wireframe was to find a design solution that best meet our research goals and provide an easy and excellent user experience. It is an excellent way to gather up various ideas to solve the problem
Digital Wireframes
Based on the paper wireframes created, best solution to offer a better and friendly user expereince was selected. Digital version of the wireframe are created which represent the app layout.
The sign up page is designed with minimal content and clear text to help user sign up with ease. The company motto and brief feature explanation is displayed alongside the sign up
Two factor verification option is provided to user for login and transactions verification making their account more secure and less vulnerable to cyber attacks
Low Fidelity Prototype
Improving and iterating on the digital wireframes, a low-fidelity prototype was created. The user flow starts on login page and ends with signup congratulation message.
The low-fidelity prototype is used to capture expected user flow
Usability Test
I conducted an unmoderated usability test containing 6 participants, three females and three male. One was a crypto trader, one was a investor, two were stock traders, and two were random crypto beginners
The following tasks were assigned
- Open the sign up page. Fill in your credentials and sign up
- Sign up with Google
- Sign up with twitter
- Fill in the authentication code
- Overall, how easy the process flow was?
Findings
One round of usability study, for low-fidelity prototype, was conducted. The findings of the usability study helped in refining and iterating over the digital wireframes to improve user experience
- Most users were confused about receiving authentiucation code when signing up with social media accounts
- Most users didn’t quite understood the purpose of authentication code
- Some users wanted to have skip option while filling authentication code
Mockups
Based on the usability studies result, I iterate over the design and came with an improve and update solution. I used different principles of Gestwalt to improve user interface and explicate the app features offered by the app to attract user attention
Most of the users were confused about receiving authentication code when signing up with social media accounts. After usability studies, it was made clear to the user that the code will be received via email the account is based on
High Fidelity Prototype
I created high fidelity prototype based on mockups and removed the definiteness and pain points in low-fidelity prototypes

Takeaways
The app focuses on minimizing drop rates from cryptocurrency exchange website due to unorthodox signup process. It also focuses on making cryptocurrency accessible to everyone

Interview sessions will be held to get a better insight of user expereince and iterate over high fidelity prototype
